Biographical Sketch:
Doug Johnson is the vice president for Administration for the Upper Columbia Conference, a position he has held since 2005. Doug's gift of administration has allowed him to serve in many administrative capacities including Assistant to the President, Director of Communications and Stewardship, Coordinator of the Church Ministries Consulting Service, and as Pastor in several churches for Upper Columbia and Washington Conferences.
In addition to his dedication to the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Doug is an avid historian who is especially passionate about the history of the church in the Northwest. He has written several books and articles on Adventist history including his books, Adventism on the Northwestern Frontier and Adventism in the Pacific Northwest and a monthly column in the NPUC Gleaner called Northwest Pioneers of Faith.
Not only does Doug like to read and write about the people who pioneered Adventism, he also likes to experience the places they have been and share the spiritual inspiration of how God has worked through His people in the past. While he was Director of Communications for Upper Columbia, Doug developed a history tour for the Conference's 125th anniversary that took members to various historical sites around the conference.
Doug was born in Lewiston, Idaho and graduated from Upper Columbia Academy. He graduated from Walla Walla College with a BA in Theology and minors in Biblical Languages, Biology and History. He earned his Masters of Divinity from Andrews University. Doug and his wife, Denise, live in Spangle, Washington and have two adult sons Hans and Erik.
