[March 13,2007] Norman Klam, North Pacific Union Conference treasurer, suffered a serious stroke while attending the Meadow Glade Adventist Church in Battle Ground, Washington, Sabbath morning, March 10.

He was quickly transported to Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington for emergency treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

By Monday Klam was alert and communicating. Currently he is recuperating in the hospital. “The prognosis looks promising,” said a report on the NPUC website.

“We are thankful that Norm's life was spared, and ask those in our extended church family to pray for his full recovery,” said Steve Vistaunet, NPUC Communications Director.

Norm's family wishes to express their appreciation for those who have kept Norm in their thoughts and prayers. However, during this present period of healing, they are requesting no visitors.

More information will be available as we get updates from the hospital. Messages may be sent in care of the NPUC president's office at npuc@nw.npuc.org.
