Omak
July 9 – 13, 2007
6:00 to 8:45 pm
Avalanche Ranch (by Group)
Leader: Linda Tomarere
Report from Cheri Corder
Even with THREE other VBS programs going on in their little community that same week (two of them also in the evening), the Omak church was still bustling with 35 kids—only 8 were from church families. “Yours is the best,” many of the parents reported.
In addition to announcements on the radio and in the newspaper, leaders went door to door with invitations. They also sent personal invitations to the kids who attended last year.
Previously, Omak has used the Lava Lava, Serengeti Trek and Fiesta programs.
After an eight-year break without VBS, this is the fourth year the Omak church has held their VBS. It is also the fourth year it has been held in the evening. This is primarily because so many of the leaders work during the day.
The evening I visited, one of the kids chose to attend VBS over going to see a Harry Potter movie with his dad. Praise the Lord!
While I was there, I was thrilled to overhear one of the community girls tell a leader, “I think I’m going to be able to come to your school this year!” Wouldn’t it be wonderful if she could?!
