With eighty kids attending, this was easily the largest VBS I visited this summer. Fortunately, the leadership team was very organized. In fact, they had a debriefing meeting at the end of every day to address any problems and plan solutions.
The kids loved stamping their T-shirts at the craft station and really got excited about not only seeing but ridingthe miniature ponies. Something unique to the Valley is that they had two professional musicians doing a station where the kids learned a couple of songs to perform at the closing program. Synnove (Anderson) Underwood has taught music in our schools for many years and Janice Renck has performed throughout the Northwest and cut at least one of her own CD’s.
As part of the Bible story the day I was there, one of the girls volunteered to be Lazarus. She died quite dramatically and was promptly wrapped in a sheet and hauled off to her tomb. I could not personally have handled having my face covered all that time, let alone being hauled off by the other kids, but she seemed to think it was all great fun! (So did the other kids!)
