Wenatchee Camp Meeting
| Vacation Bible SchoolA note from Patty Marsh: Summertime and Vacation Bible School go hand and hand – what a fun opportunity to impact children for this life and for eternity. Recently I listened as a minister told his story how much-needed groceries were shared with his large family. This so touched the hearts of his parents when the family received a VBS invitation all the children attended. This young boy’s life – changed forever! |
Yes, whether the children adventure through Castles & Crowns, A Jerusalem Marketplace or another fascinating theme, children are hearings of God’s love and care for them. Now that’s good news—news that changes lives forever!
Take the tour!
I invite you to take a moment to visually tour various VBS programs around Upper Columbia Conference representing programs from 2007 and 2008. In your imagination listen as children hear words such as, "I know what I have planned for you," says the Lord, "I have good plans for you." ` Jeremiah 29:11.
"If any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it." `James 1:5
"Lord, you are powerful and completely to be trusted." ` Psalm 89:8
Overheard on the road:
· “You mean…God DIED???”
--A sweet, precious wide-eyed boy in Milton who had been completely entranced by Vonnie Olesen’s portrayal of one of the women at the tomb of Jesus. He was visibly shaken to learn that Jesus had died and was GREATLY relieved to learn that Jesus was resurrected!
· “I think I’m going to be able to come to your school this year!”
--A girl who has loved coming to VBS at the Omak church and wants more of what she’s learned there. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if she could have a Christian education?!
We're right on target!
When you think about it, George Barna’s statistics put a real spotlight on VBS. He says that of the children ages 5 – 12, thirty-two percent will accept Christ if given the opportunity compared to only SIX percent of adults!* That tells us at least two things:
(1) VBS is a VERY important outreach as that is almost EXACTLY our target audience!
(2) We must be sure the kids have more than a good time at VBS—we must give them the opportunity to accept Christ!
A special thanks....
Behind the worship, stories, play time, crafts, wonderful leaders and assistants ranging in age from young teens through retirees share unique God-given gifts making UCC VBS powerful tools for eternity! Thank you, thank you!
