Secretariat

The office of secretariat works closely with the other two administrative offices; and along with them, recognizes that administration’s primary function is to keep before the churches, schools and ministries of the Upper Columbia Conference (UCC) the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus Christ gave the church its mission, clearly outlining for us our work.

Here is the mission statement for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in our region. “The mission of the Upper Columbia Conference is to proclaim to the inhabitants of the Inland Northwest and the world, the everlasting gospel in the context of the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14:6-12, leading them to accept Jesus as their personal Savior and to unite with His Church, nurturing them in preparation for His soon return.

Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of the office of the secretariat to:

• Process pastoral transfers
• Oversee the development of conference ethnic work
• Work closely with the Lay Advisory Council
• Manage the “Special Outreach Grant”
• Prepare agenda and minutes for conference boards and committees
• Serve on nearly 40 boards and committees as chairperson, secretary or member
• Coordinate pastoral placement
• Develop, along with the other administrators, an overall awareness of the needs of the conference and its personnel
• Be available for special assignments by the president
• Coordinate the “LEADER” program for pastors
• Prepare the annual conference directory
• Work closely with the president in preparation for special meetings, convocations and constituency sessions.
