[June 24, 2007] Leonard Atkins, pastor of the Newport Seventh-day Adventist Church, passed away Sunday morning, June 24, 2007. He and his wife Ann were participating in a voluntary health assessment at the Upper Columbia Conference Office. Leonard lost consciousness after completing a one-mile walk. Medical doctors were in attendance at the health assessment and efforts were made to revive him by the medical personnel present as well as by the emergency medical team called to the scene. His heart stopped while en route to the hospital. Pastor Atkins was 59 years old and is survived by his wife and two children Shane and Tonya. Leonard and Ann were missionaries in Africa for 20 years before coming to Upper Columbia Conference. Please keep the Atkins family in your prayers as they deal with the shock and pain of tragic and unexpected loss. The service for Len Atkins will be held on Sabbath, June 30, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pine Ridge Community Church. The address is, 1428 W. 1st Street in Newport, Washington. |
