National Day of Prayer

We want to honor God today by participating in the National Day of Prayer for our Nation.

Theme

Lift Up The Word – Light Up The World

Text

"For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him." 2 Samuel 22:29-31

Prayer

FAMILY

Good morning, Father, we are thankful on this National Day of Prayer that you are a God of glory and Lord of Love. We ask you to bless all the families in America and help each parent to lead their home with love, discipline and selfless service. May the hearts of the children unfold like flowers before you and open to the sun above. —We pray that our homes will be places where our children are taught discipline, sacrificial love, and selfless service. That they will discern between right and wrong and resist evil.

CHURCHES

We pray for our churches where individuals may seek the truth of your word.  We ask you to mend broken people and bring peaceful relationships by melting the clouds of sin and sadness: Driving the dark of doubt away.

We pray for churches to be led with the spirit of love and become beacons of hope to those who are hurting in their communities. May each member be a conduit of love and peace – giving and sharing immortal gladness and be filled with the light of day!

May your Holy Spirit empower churches to work together to bring the light of God’s word – His Gospel to all!

NATION

As we think of this great nation, America, the wide-open spaces and the towns and cities, we thank you for raising this great nation to existence. We pray that all people in this nation might reflect and praise you. And while all is not perfect in America, we seek your wisdom for our nation's leaders so that they may know what is right and have the courage to do it. We claim this promise:

“If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

May you surround us with joy and may the beauties of your creation displayed in this great country call us to rejoice in you.

MILITARY

Lord, we ask you to heal, direct, and bless our military community. We pray that even though their stresses are major, that you will be their ultimate caregiver. We ask you to provide a framework of strength to deal with the pressures of their service. May these families be drawn to your word where they may find stability in an unstable world.

May your word come alive in their lives as they serve you and our nation. And may you teach those in the military and all people in America how to love each other and lift us up to your joy divine. We pray this promise knowing that this seems to be an impossibility. But we repeat the words of Jesus in Matthew 19:26 — “This is impossible for human beings, but for God everything is possible.”

BUSINESSES

We pray for businesses across America to operate with honesty, integrity and righteousness, and serve people well. Please rise up Christian business people to be a godly influence so that all who engage in the marketplace may see an example and seek your divine guidance. May Upper Columbia Conference honor you with integrity. May our leaders seek your wisdom to lead and may they live by the words in Proverbs 16:3: “Ask the LORD to bless your plans, and you will be successful in carrying them out.” May your love be on display in how we give love to others, binding us to those in need.

EDUCATION

We thank you for creating in each person an inquiring mind to learn. You have called us to increase in wisdom, knowledge and understanding. We pray for every student that they may learn in the way you say in your word.  Proverbs 9:10 — “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom”…and we pray that all students will walk in your wisdom in ever-increasing measure throughout life. May every student be educated and equipped to fulfill their God-designed destiny for your glory. And we ask you to grant the ability in each teacher to work hand in hand with you as they partner with you in educating.

Thank you Father that you will help all seeking people on this National Day of Prayer to find love, Joy, and a song to sing as we march onward, victors in the midst of strife, Joyful music leads us Sonward in the triumph song of life. We pray this In the name of Your Son, Jesus our savior, AMEN
