He is a graduate of Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, with dual degrees, a bachelor of arts degree in theology and a bachelor of science degree in business management. He is also a graduate of Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he earned the master of business administration degree, and a graduate of Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, where he earned both the master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees. From 2010 to 2021, in addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Dr. Byrd also had the privilege of serving as the speaker/director of the Breath of Life Television Broadcast, which is aired on three national networks. Dr. Byrd is happily married to his wife of twenty-five years, the former Danielle Mounter, and they are the proud parents of three daughters, Christyn, Caileigh, and Carissa.

David Jamieson — Main Speaker

Pastor David Jamieson accepted the call to serve as president of Upper Columbia Conference in January 2022. Prior to that, He was lead pastor of Church in the Valley, located in Langley, British Columbia, Canada, where he led the church for more than 20 years. David grew up in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada and attended Canadian Union College (now Burman University), where he met his wife, Shandra. He later went on to receive a Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University in 1989 and returned in 2009 to receive a Doctor of Ministry degree with an emphasis in evangelism and church growth. Before pastoring at Church in the Valley, David served as president of the Newfoundland Conference in Eastern Canada. David has traveled worldwide, speaking at conferences, and sharing seminars for pastors and laity highlighting topics related to pastoral leadership, community outreach, and evangelism. Additionally, he has been the speaker-director for Faith Out Loud Canada, a 30-minute, five-days-a-week radio program, broadcast throughout all of Canada. David and Shandra have four grown children and one grandson.

Fernando Ortega — Musical Guest

In the early 1990s, young composer and pianist Fernando Ortegaclassically trained and musically complex, entered the Christian music scene. His distinctively earthy sound perplexed and even defied the pop status quo. Descended from eight generations of Mexican weavers, this son of the Rio Grande entwined thoughtful melodies with Celtic, bluegrass, classical and Latin American influences to create something unique and rare. Today, Fernando is one of Christian music’s most respected artists, his works encompassing modern hymns, liturgical songs, and Inspirational and praise & worship favorites. With three Gospel Music Association Dove Awards and a Billboard Latin Music Award to his credit, Fernando’s Christian radio hits include “This Good Day,” “Jesus, King of Angels” and “Sleepless Night.” Renowned for his stirring arrangements of beloved hymns— “Give Me Jesus” and “Be Thou My Vision,” among others— his solo discography features 18 projects in a heralded career spanning more than 25 years. His latest offering, the much-anticipated The Crucifixion of Jesusfollows the same devotional trajectory of 2011’s Come Down O Love Divine, this time centering on the events of Holy Week. Co-produced with Bernard Chadwick in a customized recording space in Fernando’s Albuquerque home, it’s the most intentionally devotional project he’s ever released, a meticulous labor of love. Engineered and mixed by GRAMMY® Award-winner Brandon Bell, the project was an epiphany of sorts for Fernando. Featuring 11 contemplative songs and six readings, the album is a sweeping narrative which carries the listener from Palm Sunday to the Crucifixion.

Pastor Wilfley served the church for 44 years as a pastor. He is recently retired from the Upper Columbia Academy Church.

Stephen Farr — Morning Speaker

Pastor Farr began his journey in ministry as a volunteer church Leader for the Estacada Seventh-day Adventist Church in Oregon. It was in these early years that he learned the power of prayer. He serves as the district pastor for Pendleton and Pilot Rock.
