Buddy Houghtaling Ministers Musically at UCC Camp Meeting

June 19, 2020

Enjoy toe tapping, spirit lifting music at Camp Meeting.

Many members and Pathfinders in Upper Columbia Conference have fond memories of listening to Buddy Houghtaling. His songs tell a story and reach the soul. He is sharing special music for camp meeting as well as providing a concert Sabbath afternoon at 4 p.m.

Houghtaling, known as Buddy by many, has touched the hearts and lives of Pathfinder staff, parents, kids and is still going strong. For 30 years he has written songs and provided a unique perspective to many. One song, “When Pigs Fly” is really a salvation story. Known also for “Mr. Darwin,” this piece points us all, and evolutionists in particular, to the creator.

“I am so blessed to be able to attend UCC camp meeting,” says Buddy. “I have great memories of this conference, when Wayne and Jeri Hicks would bring me to Pathfinder events. I have always found the people from this area to be so kind!”

Buddy is enjoying his time at camp meeting. He says, “Your leadership clearly loves Jesus and you can see how much they appreciate those they serve.” Even though camp meeting is virtual, he has been warmly welcomed, from a safe distance. His band members are local members, friends with whom he enjoys making music. Buddy and the band consist of Paul Jenks, a base player, Eugene Hook on the guitar and Natalie Patzer with Donna Hook as backup singers.

Buddy and Lee Venden have teamed up for more than 15 years, and together they bring the Bible to life. Buddy’s music will bring a tear, make you smile, lift your spirit, or even tap your toe. Buddy says, “Just know there is a warm place in my heart for the people of this conference.”

Buddy is a dentist in his regular job but called to be a musician. Buddy and his wife, Tina, have six children. His web site is: www.buddyhoughtaling.com.

The Upper Columbia Conference camp meeting is June 17-20, 2020. Be sure to tune in Friday afternoon and evening and all day Sabbath! Go to www.uccsda.org/campmeeting for our live feed and links to seminars.
