"Discovering the Character of God in Community"

God Is Love.

What is the foundation of who God is? Scripture gives us a remarkably simple answer: God is love. In 1 John 4:7–12 we discover how God’s character is revealed through His love. Before we can understand who we are or how we belong in community, we need to know the God who first loved us.

God Loved Us First.

God’s love isn’t simply something He talks about—it is something He demonstrates. “God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world” (1 John 4:9). We’ll explore how Jesus reveals the character of God and what changes when God’s love moves from something we know about to something we personally experience.

God's Love Lives In Us.

God’s love was never intended to stop with us. John writes, “Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” (1 John 4:11). What does it look like for God’s character to become visible through the way we treat people, build relationships, forgive, serve, and create places where others can belong?
