God Speaks Through Prayer

October 17, 2024

It was a reminder that His Word is alive and active, speaking to us in our times of need. A miracle for sure! And just at the time we needed it.

"I want to share an experience I had that is a beautiful testament to the power of prayer and the way God speaks to us through His Word. Here’s a reflection on my story that was sparked during a discussion, with my husband, about Bible promises:

In a moment of deep emotional turmoil, I found myself grappling with the interpretation of Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” My husband argued that this verse, in the Old Testament, was a promise specifically meant for the Israelites in their time of exile and was not directly applicable to us today. This interpretation shook me, as it felt like a dismissal of the personal relevance of the Old Testament, something I have held dear my whole life.

While I believe my tears were a natural response to this perceived loss, it wasn’t just about a single verse to me, it was about the connection and comfort I had always found in all the Old Testament Scriptures. I went to bed that night saddened, searching and exhausted.

But then, in the quiet of the next morning, God led me to these verses in 2 Timothy 3:16 & 17: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work”.  This was amazing salve to my heart, and ready for me first thing the next morning! This verse reaffirmed to me that every part of the Bible, including the Old Testament, holds value and purpose for my life today.

That evening, my husband shared that God had given him a verse in the New Testament that morning that says ‘All Scripture’ is applicable to us today. After comparing, it turns out God gave him the exact same verse that He had given to me. What a profound moment of divine confirmation. Both of us received the same message independently, a clear sign that God was at work, bringing unity and understanding to our hearts. It was a reminder that His Word is alive and active, speaking to us in our times of need. A miracle for sure! And just at the time we needed it.

This experience not only strengthened my faith but also deepened the spiritual connection between my husband and I. It was a powerful answer to prayer, showing that God listens, understands, and responds in ways that bring peace and clarity. It’s truly awe-inspiring how God can use moments of doubt and confusion to reveal His truth and to bring us closer to Him and to each other. We have an amazing God and Savior who cares about every detail of our lives."
