Highlights of the GC Executive Committee Spring Meeting

Key points included the church's financial position and GC rules of order.

The General Conference Executive Committee met in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States, April 8 and 9 for the Spring Business meeting. Items of interest included an update on ADRA, a Treasurer's report, and amendments to church business proceedings.


"We praise the Lord for the strong financial position of the church, considering the prevailing global economic conditions,” said GC treasurer Paul H. Douglas, who reported that the GC ended the financial year with approximately US$338 million in net assets, 94 percent of which was in cash and investments.

A motion to amend the GC rules of order included clarifying how methods of voting are determined, clarifying rules for abstentions during a vote, defining points of order,  and added a new section aimed at dealing with questions of privilege or points of order that are obstructive in nature. The motion passed 131 to 1.
