Special Call to Prayer

September 10, 2021

Because of this God-Sized Situation, please pray continuously from Friday evening and throughout the Sabbath Hours.

September 10-11, 2021

Prayer Leaders, Pastors and Friends,

We are called by God to pray "together," to agree in prayer for such a time as this. I already asked our UCC Prayer Team this week to cover us with prayer for God to halt the plague (SARS-CoV-2). And then I got a call from Richie Brower. It was on similar lines. I think God's Holy Spirit was speaking to both of us.

The following message is from his heart. I am asking every church to invite all to pray continuously for 24 hours, beginning this Friday evening and throughout the Sabbath hours that God will work mightily on behalf of all his people.

COVID-19 cases are surging in many parts of our conference. The strain on our healthcare systems and front-line providers is tremendous. Many are fatigued from long hours working to serve the needs of patients and some are in positions to make heartbreaking decisions about the level of care that will be administered to patients.

This weekend let’s join together in lifting our healthcare workers up in prayer. Let’s ask God to give them strength, courage, compassion, wisdom, and bulletproof immune systems.

But let’s boldly ask for more. Let’s beg God to stop the plague – even as He did in Bible times (2 Sam 24:14-25) This disease is beyond our ability to contain. This is a God-sized problem. This weekend, let’s acknowledge our complete inability to manage this crisis and, as the people of God, seek His deliverance for ourselves and our nation.

Beginning at sundown Friday evening, through the Sabbath hours, join in prayer for deliverance to our loving God who is “Mighty to save.”(Isa. 63:1)

Perhaps, as in times past, God will spare many in response to the prayers of a few.

Jesus says, "In that day you will ask nothing of me.

Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name,

he will give it to you."

John 16:23

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting,

for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea

that is driven and tossed by the wind.

James 1:6

As we pray, let us be bold as the spirit moves us, because we know that God answers prayers through miracles, angels, and His people!
