Camporee

Things to note:

1. There will be NO CELL SERVICE. (If there is an emergency and we need to be reached, I will be checking my email ( larad@uccsda.org ) periodically throughout the weekend and can pass messages as needed. So you can share that email address with a contact person back at home or at your church.)
2. There will be no power at your campsites. And there is only very limited power DURING THE DAY (via generator) in some of the buildings — and no power at night. (Please plan to bring flashlights, lanterns, head lamps, etc for your campers and campsite at night as it will be very dark.) Remember also that generators need to be silent at night, so plan accordingly.
3. There will be water available, but not in your campsites. Come prepared to transport water. Bring water bottles to carry to keep hydrated.
4. Campfires are prohibited. You can bring your propane fires, we will see if they are permitted.
5. Plan for all weather — we will be at 2,800 feet, so higher elevation than some of us are used to. It may be cold at night! Please have your Pathfinders bring pants, closed-toe shoes, warm jackets or sweatshirts, warm bedding, etc, just in case it turns cold. And some cooler things, also, in case it’s hot. You never know in the NW!!
6. There are lots of opportunities for hiking and outdoor events — so hiking shoes and water bottles, etc would be a great idea — as well as modest, appropriate swimming suits if you want to go to Bumping Lake as an outing. Remember to follow guidelines on boat safety and life jackets (if you have a watercraft) as well as life guards for swimming. Any questions, reach out.
7. Off-campus activities will start mid-morning on Sabbath — so planning for a sack lunch is a great idea for your club to pack at breakfast. Yay! Give the cooks a break for a meal. 😊
8. Our community service project on Sunday morning will be helping Camp Fife with a project or two. We will communicate the tools we would appreciate you bringing in the near future. 
9. Some clubs will be able to camp in the trees if they aren’t bringing big vehicles (RVs, cook trailers, etc). Otherwise, most will be camping in a field situation.
10. There are very limited bathroom/shower facilities. Be prepared for that by communicating limited shower/mirror time. 
    

Things to bring:

1. Camp chairs for meetings / campsites
2. Field uniforms only (Class A will only be required if you are “Color Guard” during the weekend.)
3. Backup power sources (battery, solar panels, etc)

Weekend Schedule:

We are finalizing this information and will send it out soon. 

But for your planning, we will begin onsite registration on Friday at 3:00 p.m.

Dinner will be in your campsites whenever your club can get set up and settled.

Our Friday evening meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Pastor Stephen Farr

Pastor Stephen William Farr is a Pastor in the Upper Columbia Conference. He is currently stationed at the Pendleton and Pilot Rock Seventh-day Adventist Churches. Stephen is a graduate of both Walla Walla University and got his Masters of Divinity from Andrews University. He took an emphasis in Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Stephen was Ordained in February of 2025, twenty years after he accepted God’s call to ministry. Stephen got Married April 13, 2025. It only took thirty-one years of praying. God has blessed Stephen with his wife Marie Farr and a wonderful daughter. Her name is Nathalia. Among many other things she is a member of the Pendleton Pathfinder Club. Stephen’s favorite Bible Verse is Jeremiah 29:11. His favorite food is Indian Food. Anything with rice and curry that is spicy. 

Baptisms:

We have several baptisms planned for our weekend together, if you have someone ready for baptism please let us know. 

We can’t wait to spend a special weekend together in 3 weeks!!

Registration:

Registration is now open and closes Thursday, September 10. 

All adults planning to attend with your club need to have an account in YMMS and background check complete and must be registered for the event in YMMS. (Pathfinders do not need to be registered individually for this event – but need to be counted in the numbers on your registration.) 

September 10 is also the deadline for getting your club registered for the year!  This means the Club Director needs to be logged in and have an active account on YMMS!! (Let us know if you still need help with this.)

We will be having a Director’s Camporee Information Meeting on Zoom next Wednesday night, September 2, at 7:00 pm. I will send a reminder and a link on Monday. It will be recorded for those who have a meeting that night.
