On September 2, 2023 the Tri-Cities district welcomed the new month with a marathon. The winners? Those who saw God. Those who noticed Him in fervent hymns after group prayers. Who smiled with an overflowing heart of gratitude. Who cried knowing God listened and cared. Those with renewed hope after a fellow church member prayed for them.

From 7 in the morning till 7 at night, two rooms in Kennewick Spanish Seventh-day Adventist church were witness to a myriad of members and nonmembers coming in to pray. Some with heavy hearts, poured out their worries in silence. Others, pressed to share God’s goodness, wrote on post-it notes how God had worked in their lives. Still others read and recited Bible promises to one another, remembering God’s faithfulness.

To celebrate this marathon of prayer, the Tri-City churches gathered in the Kennewick Spanish church at 6 p.m. for a closing program. While prayers continued in both rooms, the rest of the members shared moving testimonies of answered prayers and presented songs of praise in the sanctuary. Together, the congregation sang, Sweet Hour of Prayer before going home knowing they’d seen God.
