Praying for our Nation

June 16, 2024

Prayer events can be held year round.

The National Day of Prayer was a few weeks away and this small group wanted to make an impact in their town by holding a prayer time for our nation.

Local Church Ministry leader, Shirley Holmes, and others pounded the pavement during the weeks in advance, putting up 20 posters throughout Chewelah and placing an announcement for two weeks in the weekly newspaper.

On Thursday evening, May 2, 2024, people came, both from the community and from the church group. They were greeted at the door with a prayer request card and a list of Bible promises. Many enjoyed the short program with music and stories of how God answers prayers. Following the program there were light refreshments of homemade cookies and punch.

Neighbors came and some who couldn’t come said they would come next time. Holmes and her helper, Terry Todd, hope to hold this again next year. The Seventh-day Adventist group in Chewelah meets weekly at 2310 Sand Canyon Road in Chewelah.
